Establishing the mood with an intimate piano performance, expanding with atmospheric vocals, Yeija opens Beehive with a captivating timbre, astral harmonies and poetic prowess as she takes us on an introspective journey through her mind and the human condition.
The opus expands with sultry R&B dynamism, and the beat drop lands with a sonic switch up mid way through the track. The tempo shift is welcomed, showing the rising talent’s diverse artistic ability. The ad libs are highly unique – delicate, ethereal, conceptual and brilliant.
Yeija proves she’s not interested in safe predictability, and instead, she delivers an alternative R&B experience which manifests mood swings, emotional contrasts, and raw authenticity – a teaser of what we can expect from her forthcoming Devil’s Room EP.
The conceptual song unfolds in two distinct halves. The opening is fogged in by numbness, its slow-burning atmosphere which brings to the surface the creative and emotional paralysis that Yeija describes as “a beehive buzzing in your head.”

The midway switch up jolts the track into a new dimension, injecting cheeky defiance and sly confidence. The energy doesn’t resolve neatly into closure or healing, but it revels in pettiness, sarcasm, and the sudden joy of laughing through the pain.
We deeply connect with the self-realized nature and cinematic appeal of what Yeija is sharing, and can imagine the song garnering a multitude of sync deals – perhaps an upcoming episode of HBO’s Euphoria with a scene featuring Alexa Demie. Fans of SZA might also be able to vibe with Beehive!
Needless to say, we have added Beehive to our New Music Spotlight playlist, and our TIMELESS playlist, whilst we continue to stream Yeija‘s debut single, Spell On You and anticipate future releases from the rising half-Japanese, UK-born singer-songwriter who is currently based in Germany, and anticipate the release of her Devil’s Room EP!
