Drawing us in with an intimate guitar soundscape, BC25 open Blue Thread with a delicate timbre as they share their poetic prowess with the words, “She moves like mist through morning like, her whisper fading out of sight, the coffee cools, the curtain sways, and nothing real decides to stay…”
We are immediately drawn into the cinematic universe that manifests with Blue Thread – the descriptive depth and the sentimental nature. The opus expands with a sublime and metaphorical chorus, evolving into a dimensional soundscape with a cosmic shift for the second verse.
The gradual build of the track is divine. The vocal performances are warm and charming, yet somewhat haunting with reference to the message of the song. We love the drum-work and connect with the high emotional quotient, but also feel the sense of loss that the creators are conveying.
We learn that BC25 is a duo from Freiburg, Germany, made up of Vela Sorell and Barbonus, and their music was born from eighteen lost recordings by a late friend. Blue Thread serves as the centrepiece for their EP, Unearthed.

The track’s minimalistic recording process and vibes are intentional, to preserve raw performances and a natural sound, giving it a timeless, almost live quality. They tell us how silence and space are as important here as the notes themselves.
Naturally, we are in awe of the piece, and could imagine it garnering a multitude of sync deals – perhaps a coming of age movie that parallels the sense of loss, or an emotive scene in a TV show like HBO’s Euphoria.
We have added Blue Thread to our New Music Spotlight playlist, and our TIMELESS playlist, whilst we anticipate future releases from BC25, and stream the entirety of the EP, including While I Was Quiet and Frontline!
