Accompanied by an astral harp, Shelita opens You Will Want My Love with an impassioned delivery as she sings from her soul, “I do not know what the future holds but I can dream it, living the life with you… I already know what you see in me, I can feel, only thing I want is you…”
The opus expands with textured percussion, switching up to a dimensional synthscape for the chorus as Shelita delivers an almost avant-garde R&B delivery, evoking an energy akin to the lovechild of Björk and SZA!
Melodically, and also in part to her vocal timbre, Shelita throws back to Björk‘s song All Is Full of Love, whilst tonally and in terms of the progressive mix, elements of SZA or a current day R&B star are brought to life.
“Don’t you know, my love can bring you anywhere…” sings the star for the middle eight – like a mantra, before showcasing her cosmic range with stunning ad libs, leading us to a choral finale that feels robust and climactic! Overall there is a high spiritual quotient that manifests with the song, the looped notions, the conscious prose – almost like a spell – and indeed, we are spellbound by what Shelita is creating! The accompanying visuals are also sublime, where we see the star stylistically immersed in water – the most powerful element in our physical world.

For some further context, Shelita suffered a near-fatal skydiving accident while in Seychelles. This left her hospitalized and led to multiple surgeries. Her road back to life began underwater. Through freediving – the concept of diving underwater while holding one’s breath, without the use of scuba gear – Shelita reconnected to her body, voice, inner songwriter.
Shelita shares her wisdom with the words, “Sometimes you have to descend to ascend, and this album is a reflection of that process of going deeper and transforming because we are all of us, we are all of us”.
We learn that You Will Want My Love is co-written with William Henshall of Londonbeat, and Bellringer (Britney Spears). It is designed to blend hypnotic rhythms and Shelita’s soulful vocals into a sensual, cinematic soundscape which definitely comes to life!
The track serves as the first single from Shelita’s upcoming album, Into the Depths. The record was created to reflect her recovery. It is no surprise that the star has already been featured by NPR, Music Connection, and Forbes! Naturally, we have added You Will Want My Love to our New Music Spotlight playlist, and our TIMELESS and TRIPPY playlists, whilst we continue to stream Shelita’s exquisite discography!
