We have been intently following the consistent growth of AUNCE, and have featured a slew of her previous singles, boasting intelligent songwriting, captivating performances and dimensional soundscapes. There is no doubt that AUNCE is an artist who manifests her authenticity, and even her love for the animals, with tangibly masterful creations… so when we heard that she was back with Walking Through Walls, we couldn’t wait to listen and share our experience.
Her latest opus opens with a cerebral yet meditative frequency with astral tones, luring us once again into her cohesive universe. The composition’s introduction feels sublime, spacey and certainly akin to the sentiment of weightlessness, and tapping into the spiritual realm.
We are met with emotive piano chords before AUNCE sings the title of the track, “I’m walking through walls, I’m distracted by the light inside….”. With metaphorical depth, she presents a delicate timbre, reminding us of other avant-garde artists like FKA Twigs.
The piece continues showcasing a philosophical approach to song writing, AUNCE‘s ethereal nature, and poetic grace. The astral tones from the intro return and notions of Björk manifest as the London-based artist continues to share her conceptual and somewhat minimalist composition.

We are mesmerized by the overarching sentiment of the piece, and are reminded that it would actually be perfect for a yoga practise – perhaps the final moment of a shivasana when we are lying open to the universe, tapping into our non-physical qualities, connecting with the universe. This type of production feels peaceful and consciously astute, divine, whilst also being something that must be absolutely mind-bending to experience in a live setting.
Speaking on the release, AUNCE confesses, “Walking Through Walls was born where the mind slows and imagination begins. Over the past few years, I’ve been exploring the significance of stillness – not as emptiness, but as a quiet reclaiming of my own self from the numbing/anxiety inducing distractions of modern life. In these moments of calm, I reconnect with myself, with nature, intuition, and imagination, and I’ve found that music flows more effortlessly from this place.”

This truly aligns with our interpretation and where in the modern world the song could be received with purpose. AUNCE adds, “I’ve always had an innately urgent inner tempo. I used to create from a restless, anxious energy. Of course, music created from this place can produce cool and important stuff — but I wanted to explore another state. The process of creating this track represented a pivotal shift for me — a reminder of the creativity that sits beyond the noise of a restless mind. Making this track also reminded me of something I believe is true for everyone: every human has innate creativity, often drowned out by the noise, judgement, oppressive and stifling systems, and speed of modern life.”
Naturally, we have added Walking Through Walls to our New Music Spotlight playlist, and our TIMELESS and TRIPPY playlists, whilst we continue to stream AUNCE‘s exquisite discography and connect with stillness!
