Drawing us in with an astral synthscape and atmospheric ad libs, Annika Bellamy opens her cover of Come and Get Your Love, originally by, and also featuring Pat ‘Redbone’ Vegas, with the signature introspective question, “Hey, what’s the matter with your head, head?”
The opus expands with instrumental dimensionality and sublime layered vocals as Annika Bellamy shares the soul of the original, but with a progressive, contemporary power-pop twists. The guitar riffs are transcendental, and Annika Bellamy‘s vocals remind us of the movie Pitch Perfect with awe-inspiring harmonies.
As for the message of the song, Come and Get Your Love is historically an upbeat, feel-good anthem about self-acceptance, emotional openness, and embracing love. It encourages us to stop overthinking or doubting ourselves, and instead tune into our true feelings and desires. This message is important today, more than ever.
We have an influx of information and disinformation, which often causes us to metaphorically lose our heads, so we are grateful to Annika Bellamy for shedding light on this message once again. Reminding us to seek out and accept love, both from others and from within.

We learn that Annika Bellamy is in fact the niece of Tony “T-Bone” Bellamy, Redbone’s late lead guitarist and co-writer of the song, which makes this release even more exciting and authentic! This explains the official collaborative nature of the release too.
On her website, Annika confesses, “I’m not the only musically inclined person in my family. My uncle Tony Bellamy was in the 70’s band Redbone, and co-wrote the hit song Come and Get Your Love, and my aunt Michaeline Bellamy was the principal singer in the show Folies Bergere at the Tropicana Hotel in Las Vegas and toured as a backing vocalist for such greats as Engelbert Humperdinck!”
We love what Annika Bellamy has created with her late uncle’s bandmate, and have added this re-imagining of Come and Get Your Love to our New Music Spotlight playlist, and our TIMELESS playlist, whilst we continue to stream Annika’s wider discography, including The One, and Psycho!
