Drawing us in with a refined strings crescendo, Journeys To Monas opens Come To Light with the poignant lyrics, “You’ve never been where I’ve been, you don’t get where I’m from, I’m not you, no you didn’t get where I’m from, so why don’t you walk for a mile in my shoes?”
The opus expands with a high emotional quotient and a pulsating kick drum with astral synth details, cerebral clicks and atmospheric vocals as Journeys To Monas shares a relatable, yet expansive message.
Come To Light manifest as a cosmic anthem empathy, resilience, and unity. In essence, it asks us to understand different life experiences. It encourages us not giving up and to move forward. It speaks of hope, dreams, and finding light together, ending with a call to love, to remember who we are.
There is a spiritual essence that the track exudes, both socially and lyrically. It reminds us that we are stardust, and simultaneous, how we are one – brought together in this light spectrum of a holographic universe.
Journeys To Monas confesses, “The message behind this release is a call for unity, peace, and love in the face of darkness. This song means a lot to me, and I wrote it with a wish to inspire peace, understanding, and love, especially during these challenging times. I hope it encourages us all to see through each other’s eyes, let go of what holds us back, and move forward together, hand in hand.”
The philosophical artist, also known as Maurice Sultana, adds, “Every time I create, I prefer shaping each sound from knowledge (knowing what I’m doing) rather than finding something ready made, which allows me develop my sounds further with each track I work on. This track has 3 distinct sections. It doesn’t really follow the conventional composition rules of most songs. Apart from creating variation and mystery, I did this to enhance the storytelling aspect of the track.”
Journeys To Monas is based in Xaghra, Gozo, Malta. Influenced by the atmospheric soundscapes of Pink Floyd and the electronic experimentation of early pioneers like Martijn Garritsen and Tim Berg. We can feel this come through with Come To Light, but there is also no doubt that Journeys To Monas is manifesting a conscious universe of his own!
We have added Come To Light to our New Music Spotlight playlist, and our TIMELESS and TRIPPY playlists, whilst we continue to stream the wider discography of Journeys To Monas, including Bring Me Back To Life, and The Lonely Shepherd.
