Establishing the mood with pulsating synths, expanding into a dimensional guitar-driven, alternative rock soundscape with piano and textured drums, Ben Aubergine opens Spoke For What I Knew with a brooding vocal performance and situational prose as he sings, “I watched you for some time, locked on to spot a subtle sign, the moment cracked and disappeared, red lips and eyes of burning tears, we seemed all by ourselves…”
The opus, originally written in 1998, expands with integrity, drama and intentional depth as Ben shares a tale of misaligned connection between two people, describe as “a moment of intimate honesty” where “irresolvable tension” manifested.
Ben Aubergine tells us, “It’s a song about relational asymmetry, and how sometimes separation is the only way out.” We appreciate the poetic prowess and raw authenticity that transmutes. Ben is an exceptionally gifted songwriter – the metaphors that he uses to bring his situationship to life are evocative and nuanced.

As for his music background, Ben confesses, “I am a singer and multi-instrumentalist who writes, arranges, records, and mixes original music. Like many musicians, I spent my teens and twenties chasing expression through songs crafted with instinct and emotion. As life evolved, I became a physician, a husband, a father. My focus turned toward the things people naturally pursue — stability, growth, and responsibility. Music stayed with me as a creative anchor and I kept playing, refining, and learning.” We learn that Spoke For What I Knew was mastered by Ruben Cohen at Lurssen Mastering in Los Angeles.
The Illinois-based artist is currently in the process of releasing songs as they are completed – which is a logical, and intelligent business plan for a rising independent artist – particularly considering how listener attention spans are these days. Ben candidly says, “Please enjoy them and stick around for what’s to come.” Naturally, we have added Spoke For What I Knew to our New Music Spotlight playlist, and our TIMELESS playlist, whilst we anticipate future releases from Ben Aubergine!
