We previously featured Hekatė as she brought to life her conscious spirit with her universally aligned and intentional opus, Expand, so when we found out that the talented rising artist was back with Drop Down, we were curious to say the least, and couldn’t wait to listen and share our experience.
Establishing the mood with the trippy sounds of water droplets and a subversive sub bass, Hekatė opens Drop Down with a cerebral spoken word intro, evolving into a luscious synthscape with a dimensional bass line and percussion textures.
“Take my hand, let’s find us…” whispers the consciously astute creator as she invites us to connect with her, the universe and ourselves. Down pitched vocals and playful, astral synths evoke further emotion, fused with a cinematic synth strings performance before warped vocals sing the title of the track in an almost warbled manner.
We are enthralled in the world that she is creating and an 8-bit synth comes to life, demonstrating how the reality lies beneath, undisturbed. Although experimental, the piece is cohesive and not jarring at all. Hekatė shows us that subversion can be refined.
We appreciate the integration of breath work and the intentional prose that encourages us to find ourselves. The trippy astral synth returns, bringing the track full circle as it ends with an exhale. Hekatė describes Drop Down as “a hypnotic descent into the subconscious – built on pulsing bass, textured atmospheres, and vocal collective memory fragments.”
She adds, “It invites listeners to journey inward, shedding surface noise to meet the raw, wholesome self beneath. It’s a meditative dive into hidden layers, with the goal of resurfacing more whole, more true̶guided by immersive soundscapes and subtle emotional tension.”
Naturally, we will be adding Drop Down to our New Music Spotlight playlist, and our TRIPPY playlist, whilst we continue to stream Expand and anticipate future releases from the prophetic and consciously gifted artiste.
