Catlea shares a high emotional quotient, and message of hope and resilience with cinematic new opus, Crumbling

We previously featured Catlea as they teased their upcoming album, Language Barrier, with the evocative, cerebral and thought-provoking single, Lying, so when we heard that the talented star was back with Crumbling, we were curious to say the least, and couldn’t wait to listen and share our experience!

Drawing us in with an intricate and timeless piano performance, Catlea opens Crumbling with an ethereal and atmospheric pop vocal and the introspective prose that we have come to love from the talented lyricist. Full of emotion and touching on themes of resilience and self-discovery, the opus expands with drama and a cinematic nature, making it perfect for a multitude of TV and movie synch deals.

The track’s production, helmed by Claudia Mills (BITTERS) and featuring the stellar piano work of Nick Tsang (Ed Sheeran, The Script, Lewis Capaldi), is captivating. The infectious energy that builds throughout the song is a testament to Catlea’s eclectic musical style and their ability to weave together various genres seamlessly.

The lyrics of Crumbling speak to the inevitable struggle of facing unrealistic expectations and the subsequent fall, yet they also highlight the strength required to rebuild oneself. This duality is expressed through Catlea’s angelic yet raw and powerful vocals, which convey both vulnerability and determination. The vibrant tones of the final chorus leave us with a sense of hope and resilience, reinforcing the message that no matter how many times we may crumble, we can always find ourselves again.

Catlea’s personal connection to their music is evident in Crumbling. As the artist shares, “Music creates a space for me where I feel at home,” and this single vividly illustrates that sentiment. The song is a playful yet profound exploration of deep vulnerability, making it relatable and inspiring for us all.

The single also benefits from an expert mix and master by Jason Boshoff (Josh Groban, David Gray, Rufus Wainwright) at Room to Studios in Barcelona, Spain. The vocals, recorded locally at PLAY Audio (formerly Gwynne Sound), are crisp and emotive, further enhancing the track’s impact.

With Crumbling, Catlea offers a message of hope and resilience: “To those who are lost: we can always find ourselves again, no matter how many times we may crumble.” This sentiment, combined with the single’s infectious energy and high emotional quotient, ensures that Crumbling is an experience that will leave a lasting impression.

We have added Crumbling to our New Music Spotlight playlist, as well as our brand new TIMELESS playlist, whilst we continue to stream Catlea‘s wider discography, and anticipate the release of the star’s upcoming album, Language Barrier!
