Drawing us in with a subversive and dimensional bassline with glistening astral melodic nuance, Clash Clash Bang Bang open Cold as Ice with a bold and atmospheric vocal singing, “I am cold as ice, my heart is frozen, I paid the price, my path is chosen…”
The opus expands with cerebral intrigue and a high octane beat with a cosmic guitar riff to take us on an introspective and metaphorical journey. We appreciate the vocal design switch up and the tangible charisma that vocalist Lia Hell exudes.
The apathy is relatable and zeitgeist, and we totally vibe with the IDGAF energy that the band channels with their message. It’s self-realized, and inspires inner peace. “Ignorance is a blessing…” is a powerful statement, and sometimes we need that sense of not caring in order to find salvation within ourselves.
Apathy, often viewed negatively, can be crucial in maintaining mental well-being and productivity. In a world inundated with constant stimuli and information, selective apathy allows us to conserve energy and focus on what truly matters.
By not caring about trivial or insignificant matters, we can avoid unnecessary stress and distractions, thereby freeing up mental space for more meaningful pursuits. Apathy towards external judgment fosters authenticity and self-confidence, enabling us to stay true to their values and goals without being swayed by societal expectations, and this is what we love about Clash Clash Bang Bang‘s message.
In addition to Lia Hell on vocals, the band features eli-N on drums, Gasher the 14th of Greenskull on guitar and production, whilst Faye Silkyway slays on synthesizers. Speaking on their wider purpose as a collective, Clash Clash Bang Bang tell us, “In our galaxy, there’s room for all colours of the rainbow. Our musical journey is about more than just melodies and rhythms. We are here to light the stars of queerness, question gender roles and deconstruct the binary understanding of gender.”
We love what Clash Clash Bang Bang stand for, and have added Cold as Ice to our New Music Spotlight playlist, as well as our new TRIPPY playlist, whilst we continue to stream the wider discography of the band, including the entirety of their album, Artificial Paradise.
