Remy Smith shares her soul and authenticity on prophetic debut single, Strange Feeling

Drawing us in with textured drums and immersive guitar melodies, Remy Smith opens Strange Feeling with atmospheric vocals and metaphorical depth as she sings, “All the rivers are drying out, all the stars burn too bright, and when I said I think about you, it was a lie…”

We immediately connect with the philosophical depth and high emotional quotient that Remy Smith manifests with her vision. The soundscape showcases nothing short of instrumental mastery, a timelessness that allows the lyricism to fully be absorbed. The rising artist is full of poetic prowess and her intentionality is tangible.

Speaking on the message of the opus, Remy confesses, “The song was inspired by the often strange and challenging feelings that come with growing up in our strange and challenging world.” The consciousness that transpires through the sonic experience feels much needed, and we are grateful that Remy Smith is amplifying her wisdom with Strange Feeling.

The rising talent cites Mazzy Star, Elliot Smith, Jennifer O’Connor, Ani Difranco, Caitie Curtis, Radiohead, and Stevie Nicks as her influences, which we can feel come through on the record, although there is no doubt that Remy Smith is manifesting a universe of her own.

Strange Feeling was recorded in Remy’s bedroom at home, with mixing and mastering by Hunter Livsey. Remy tells us, “I started making music in my bedroom when I was 10 years old, barely able to hold a guitar upright in my lap. This song was born out of the experience of getting older, losing loved ones, and growing up and confronting what it means to be a girl and an artist in her early 20s in this strange world.”

We love what Remy Smith is creating, and have added the prophetic and authentic Strange Feeling to our New Music Spotlight playlist and our brand new TIMELESS playlist, whilst we anticipate future releases from the emerging talent!
