We previously featured Emerald Bluffs for the evocative and emotive debut single, All I Need, so when we heard that the talented band, fronted by Isaac Harris, was back with Autumn’s Eve, we were curious to say the least, and couldn’t wait to listen and share our experience.
Drawing us in with rippling bell tones and subversive, bustling soundscape’s reflecting our reality, the opus expands into clarity with atmospheric lyrics with reference to Spring time, the sun and our shared positive experience of connecting with our solar source.
We are met with a stunning saxophone performance, as Emerald Bluffs, the brainchild of Isaac Harris, take us on a somewhat metaphorical journey with a relatable and charming message. Speaking on the concept of the song, Isaac confesses, “For my first few years out of college, I was taking seasonal jobs all over the West and being a young stupid guy, I always found myself falling in love. Whether I was falling in love from a distance or up close and personal, I remember those lovers and those seasons of love fondly. For Autumn’s Eve, I wanted to pair the feelings of those relationships with my love for the beauty of the outdoors.”
Autumn’s Eve serves as a poignant reflection of Isaac Harris‘s personal journey, encapsulating the fleeting magic of seasonal romances set amidst the grandeur of the great outdoors. Through its rich instrumentation and emotive storytelling, the song invites us into a realm brimming with nostalgia, yearning, and the captivating allure of nature’s beauty.
We learn that the composition features Isaac Harris on lead vocals, synthesizers, and electric guitars, whilst Jordan Lapp performs saxophone, Francesca Pratt shares her energy on drums, and Erick Gonzalez plays bass. Haley Gaertner along with Erick Gonzalez and Isaac Harris providing backing vocals.
With reference to the creation of the track, Isaac tells us, “This track was recorded all over the place. The majority of the song was recorded at my portable studio in Bend, Oregon. Then a lot of the vocals and the bass were added when I went home to Carbondale, Illinois to visit family. To add on to all of that, the sax and the drums were recorded remotely. Putting this track together was quite the puzzle. I also had a stellar mastering engineer in Michael Venia over at Venia Mastering Studio, to help tie it all all together.”
We love the final creation, which is a cohesive, emotive, and inspiring piece that captures the essence of the changing seasons and the beauty of transition. With its evocative lyrics, lush instrumentation, and heartfelt, layered vocals, Autumn’s Eve weaves a narrative of reflection, transformation, and renewal with captivating and charming themes. Emerald Bluffs cite The Shins, 311, Marcy Playground, The Strokes, and Cat Stevens as inspirations, although there is no doubt that Isaac is manifesting a sonic universe of his own.
Naturally, we have added Autumn’s Eve to our New Music Spotlight playlist and our new TIMELESS playlist, whilst we continue to stream All I Need and Magnolia, and anticipate future releases from Isaac and Emerald Bluffs, including their upcoming album, FORMATIONS, due for release in May!
