Drawing us in with astral piano notes and emotive bass arpeggios, Maria Pellicano opens her cover of Perdere L’amore, first made famous by Massimo Ranieri, with a captivating vocal performance and the iconic, introspective opening lyrics, “E adesso andate via, voglio restare solo, con la malinconia, volare nel suo cielo, non chiesi mai chi eri, perché scegliesti me…”, which translates as, “And now go away, I want to be alone, with the melancholia, flying in its own sky, I’ve never asked who you were, why did you choose me…”

The opus expands with textured drums as Maria sings the title of the track which serves as the hook. The strings arrangement for the piece is expansive and truly tugs at our heart strings. Maria Pellicano‘s rendition of Perdere L’amore is a poignant and emotionally charged cover, which showcases her exceptional talent and artistry.

The refined and masterful instrumentation sets the stage for Pellicano’s powerful vocals, creating a lush and evocative sonic landscape that draws us into her soul-wrenching universe. The delicate interplay of instruments, from sweeping strings to haunting piano melodies, adds depth and richness to the music, enhancing the emotional impact of the composition.

Maria Pellicano‘s voice soars effortlessly over the intricate arrangement, delivering a performance that is both heartfelt and hypnotizing. What sets Maria Pellicano‘s cover apart is her ability to make the song her own, infusing it with her unique style and interpretation while still paying homage to the original. Her nuanced delivery and subtle vocal nuances bring a fresh perspective to the familiar melody, breathing new life into the classic tune.

Pellicano navigates the emotional peaks and valleys of the song with grace and sensitivity, demonstrating a deep understanding and connection to the music. Maria conveys an honest portrayal of longing for something gone awry while at the same time finding courage to accept its place in her past.

We learn that at first, Maria was hesitant to immerse herself in the song’s profound lyrics, but the impressive musical arrangement and dynamics ultimately won her over. She confesses, “In the beginning, I didn’t want to imbue myself with the lyrics of this song, but the musical arrangement and dynamic was so inspiring that, I just could not let it go. As I accepted the challenge of meaning, I became wiling to make the song come alive by connecting to the lyrics and by finding the story inside of me.”

The star continues, “I thoroughly enjoyed learning and recording this song, because emotionally I was stretched to reach hidden aspects of my own life and technically my voice improved.”
