We have been intently following the rise of Proklaim, so when heard that the conscious and thought-provoking Namibian talent had just released POPPIN, we were curious and couldn’t wait to listen and share our experience.
Drawing us in with a meditative frequency and textured percussion, Prokalim opens POPPIN with progressive prose and a pristine vocal. The opus expands with repeated add libs, layered and processed vocals, showcasing a refined and genre-expansive energy to couple Proklaim‘s epic and instinctive flow.
The star showcases intelligent and motivated lyricism, with a dimensional beat, amapiano ethno-electronica switch ups, with a dancehall meets Aftrobeats hybrid vibe – needless to say, we are captivated. We appreciate the earworm hooks, fierce nature and Proklaim’s passionate and hypnotizing performances.
Taking us on a high octane journey, Proklaim proves that he is in a league of his own, whilst tapping into a sense of nostalgia, an unrivalled flow and progressive soundscaping. The finale breakdown is elegant and leaves us yearning for more. We can only imagine how epic it would be to experience Proklaim live.
Elaborating on the depth of POPPIN, Proklaim confesses, “The song is a high energy banger designed to get people excited about life, while simultaneously enjoying the messages therein.”
The creator cites Wutang Clan, Tupac, Big Punisher, Lauryn Hill, and Nas as some of his influences, which we can feel come through in his prose and energy. POPPIN was recorded at PEN PUSHAZ studios, and mixed and Mastered at Audio Art Namibia.
We have added POPPIN to three of our playlists, including New Music Spotlight, whilst we continue to explore Proklaim‘s ever expanding discography.
