Our obsession with Karlo and Richard Bromsen seems to grow with every listen. We previously featured the band for the introspective and immersive single, The Photograph, as well as the profound ode to friendship, We!, and the emotive dedication to their heroes, Read About It, so when we heard that the talented creators were back with Someone, we couldn’t wait to listen.
Enticing us with drumsticks and a super dimensional synthscape with a pulsating beat and charismatic vocals, Bromsen open Someone with a magnetic energy that we cannot get enough of.
Lyrically, the track is filled with poetic prowess and visual prose that takes us on a sometimes cerebral, but definitely relatable journey. A cosmic guitar solo has us captivated before a fierce rebuild into an anthemic finale. The instrumental mastery is simply of out this world.
We absolutely love the harmonies, and the outro is an ethereal and subversive conclusion to what feels like an epic compositional opus. Needless to say, we are reaching for the repeat button.
Someone is the fifth single from the indietronic rock duo’s upcoming album Brothers in Mind, scheduled for release on 16 February! The creators confess how the song draws inspiration from renowned songwriter Luka Bloom‘s journey of self-discovery and independence.
The track is designed to reflect on “the choice between conforming to societal expectations and embracing an authentic, adventurous life.” Bromsen tell us how the song’s uplifting message encourages listeners to live honestly and boldly, celebrating the essence of individuality.
According to the pair, America is not only a land of freedom and progress, but it also represents the unwavering spirit of liberty. In their artistic depiction of bandmate Richard as a hybrid of the Statue of Liberty, they aim to capture this essence in a playful yet thought-provoking manner.
Fans of The Strokes, The White Stripes, Muse and even Arctic Monkeys will be able to connect with Someone, although there is no doubt that Bromsen are creating a vibe unique to their own design.
We have added Someone to our New Music Spotlight playlist, as well as our brand new TIMELESS playlist, whilst we continue to stream Bromsen‘s growing discography, and anticipate the release of their record next month!
