We previously featured Kid of the Star System when she teased her sophomore album with the fierce and dimensional release of Sleepwalking, so when we heard that the talented creator was back with Horizon Double Negative, we were curious and couldn’t wait to listen and share our experience.
“As I lay back, I paint a picture in my mind…” sings Kid of the Star System with a dynamic and high octane production as we are invited on a journey through the intricate and expansive mindset of our protagonist.
Horizon Double Negative showcases exquisite flow and a captivating timbre from the rising Londoner, and we are mesmerized. The opus allows us the privilege of a deeper dive into the psyche of Kid of the Star System, and we are not disappointed.
We love the progressive rock meets nu-metal hybrid energy of the artist’s soundscape, and the choral vocal production has us truly in awe. Last time, we likened the creator’s sound to Linkin Park, and once again, Horizon Double Negative showcases an edge which feels unique to its own design as well as lending itself to a sense of familiarity.
The anthemic nature of what Kid of the Star System is simply breathtaking and we can only imagine how iconic this would be to experience live! The star taps into chord progressions that are designed to evoke the highest emotion, which is complimented by the ebbs and flows of the track, particularly when the star sings the introspective middle eight, “Fading, I’m fading, I’m fading, do you know my mind? Do you know my mind?”
Naturally, Horizon Double Negative comes with a vivid music video featuring a gripping performance from the star, and anime references that bring to life the message of the song holistically.
Kid of the Star System tells us how her aim is to bring a sense of fun and chaos to her music and to envelop listeners in a warm and comforting blanket of emotions. Her new record, Luminous features an explosion of genre-bending sounds and thought-provoking lyrics, in line with the singles that we have already experienced.
We love the intentional depth and message that Kid of the Star System creates with, and have added Horizon Double Negative to our brand new TRIPPY playlist, as well as our New Music Spotlight playlist, whilst we continue to stream Luminous in full!
