MADAME NEPTUNE enlist PATH:LESS for subversive re-imagining of their debut single, He Rises

Our obsession with MADAME NEPTUNE seems to grow with every listen. We previously featured the evocative and cerebral release, The Banshee so when we heard that the duo had returned with a reworking of He Rises, thanks to producer PATH:LESS, we were curious, and couldn’t wait to listen and share our thoughts.

Establishing the mood with atmospheric vocal textures, riveting drums and a fierce guitar soundscape, the alternate version of He Rises opens with layered, breathy vocals, and situational, metaphorical prose. Needless to say, we are entirely captivated.

Enigmatic guitar melodies lead us to an assertive chorus as we experience the hook, “Satan is here for me…”. The dimensional nature of the guitar performances is simply our of this world, and we love the drums that remind us of early Linkin Park.

Madame Neptune and Urok describe themselves as “unholy multi-instrumentalists who can only write songs while having heavy demonic seances.” They even tell us how they “signed a contract of love, blood, bounded by the elements and the lord deep down under.”

We learn that while MADAME NEPTUNE is a gifted medium, the struggles from her past, her devastating dreams and the urge to stop the wrong prophets and false fortunetellers conspire to make her own story seems to be a bit complicated and complex. We love how she applies this to the project and are in awe of the authenticity that transpires.

She confesses that “behind a wall of dark thoughts and translucent memories, lost feelings and melancholic pictures in her head, she is able to help people with her visions but her past is an unsolvable puzzle.”

We love the hyper-reality that MADAME NEPTUNE creates, and are infatuated with the reworking of He Rises by PATH:LESS. We have added the song to our New Music Spotlight playlist, and our TIMELESS playlist, whilst we continue to stream the duo’s wider discography and anticipate future original releases.
