We previously featured millhope for his expansive and evocative debut single, Illusion, so when we heard that the star was back with Prototype, we were curious to say the least, and couldn’t wait to listen and share our experience.
Drawing us with with bird sounds fused with an ethereal synthscape and textured vocal ad libs from Jenny Thiele, millhope opens Prototype with an enlightening melody before expanding with a dimensional bassline and astral synth performance to take us on an out-of-this-world journey.
The opus evolves with genius instrumentation, creating an expansive and intricate sonic architecture as an intimate guitar entices us further. We absolutely love the dynamic nature of the composition and how boundless reality seems when we are conjunction with the German artist.
A mediative middle eight allows for the guitar performance to cut through before the 8-bit high synth leads us further on our journey towards an anthemic and immersive finale, before a breakdown outro that leaves us yearning for more.
On the track, millhope who is also known as producer and composer Thomas Mühlhoff performs bass, guitar, and synth, whilst Alex Höffken shares his expertise on the drums.
We learn that Prototype was recorded in millhope‘s home studio, and was created with the intention to encapsulate “a mellow and trippy vibe that is perfect for outdoor activities, idle moments, time spent in nature, or simply indulging in daydreams.” The visionary composer adds, “Prototype is the sonic escape you’ve been waiting for, transcending musical boundaries and igniting your imagination.”
We love what millhope is sharing with the universe, and have added Prototype to our New Music Spotlight playlist as well as our brand new TRIPPY playlist, whilst we continue to stream Illusion, and anticipate future releases from the talented creator.
