Taylor Ravenna inspires confidence and resilience on fierce new single, Taking My Luv

Setting the tone with a subversive, enigmatic guitar introduction, Taylor Ravenna opens Taking My Love with an atmospheric vocal and metaphorical, situational prose, accompanied by a dimensional bassline. Needless to say, we are in awe.

The opus expands with intentional depth, as Taylor shares her universe with us, taking us on an evocative trip through her mindset and reality. We appreciate the cohesive tapestry of sound that the star creates as well as the sound design nuances that elevate the composition, creating a dynamic energy that we cannot get enough of.

The vocal switch up and intimate piano creates ebbs and flows within the piece which evoke further emotion. We deeply connect with the middle eight featuring a cerebral guitar performance, as Taylor shares her soul and realisations, before an industrial and trippy final reprise with glitched vocals invites us to hit the repeat button creating a perfect loop.

Exploring her inner power and confronting her struggles with vices with the message of Taking My Love, Taylor Ravenna tells us, “I want to inspire confidence, hope and resilience.”

Taking My Love is designed in collaboration with producer Harrisun, and speaking on the creative process, the pair tell us how the distorted drums and ghostly sounds are the bed for Taylor’s vocal which is sent through a guitar amp and analog delays.

We learn that Taylor Ravenna was born and raised in Palm Bay, Florida, and found her way to Los Angeles shortly after graduating from college in 2017. At a young age, the talented creator was naturally immersed in music, from writing and singing with her father to commanding the stage as a competitive dancer; “performing and entertaining were in her blood.”

As a child of the ’90s, she cites Avril Lavigne, Britney Spears, and No Doubt, as well as Halsey, Kid Cudi, and Stephen as some of her influences, although it is clear that Taylor Ravenna is creating a sound of her own.

Taylor is currently in the process of releasing a series of singles, including Royalty, Tip Toe, Fake Luv, and of course, Taking My Luv as part of her sophomore EP, GRLFCK.

We have added Taking My Luv to our New Music Spotlight playlist, as well as our brand new TRIPPY playlist, whilst we explore Taylor Ravenna‘s wider discography, and anticipate future releases from the star including Terrified of Loving You.
