Yael Lanciano shares a story of unrequited love with atmospheric new single, Runnin’ away

Drawing us in with an immersive, astral frequency, Yael Lanciano opens Runnin’ away with a pristine pop vocal as she sings, “I wanna talk about your feelings, want you to tell me what’s on your mind, all the time, but you’re keeping me at a distance…”

The opus expands with a relatable energy, as the rising artist shares her soul and conveys the story of a complicated “situationship.” We appreciate the authenticity and the timeless nature of what Yael Lanciano offers with her sound. Tapping into elements of the 80s and 90s pop, with a progressive and contemporary flair.

Speaking on her artistry as a whole, Yael confesses, “I write from the heart…whether that means I write fun dance songs, healing songs, or sad songs. They all come from love.”

With reference to Runnin’ away, she adds, “This particular song is about a lover who (in my opinion) was afraid to open his heart.” The creator from Phoenix continues, “What inspired this song was a dating experience where I felt the other party wasn’t ready.”

The relatable nature of her words is tangible, and the emotional depth of what Yael shares feels cathartic for both listener and artist alike. Elaborating on her creative process of Runnin’ away, Yael tells us, “This was recorded in my Los Angeles apartment and was produced by Dibs.”

When discussing her influences, Yael cites Lizzo, Doja Cat, and Dua Lipa, which we can feel come through in her sound, although there is no doubt that Yael Lanciano is creating a universe of her own.
