The Margaret Hooligans imagine a world in which men are subjected to the same sexual harassment that women with evocative new single, Revenge of the ScarJo

We can always count on The Margaret Hooligans for a conceptual journey, and as soon as we saw the title for their latest single, Revenge of the ScarJo, you can imagine that our curiosity was peaked.

Setting the tone with bold and textured, rolling drums with fierce guitar stabs, The Margaret Hooligans awaken us with a subversive mood and atmospheric vocals from singer, Meg Cratty!

We are taken on a thought-provoking journey with dimensional ad libs, iconic guitar riffs, dynamic percussion and overall instrumental mastery. Speaking on the message of the release, The Margaret Hooligans tell us, “Revenge of the ScarJo imagines a world in which men are subjected to the same sexual harassment that women commonly experience.”

The intellectually stimulating pair inform us that the lyrics are designed to taunt us with phrases of victim blaming that women have heard for decades. For example, the evocative prose that flips the script, ‘Equality starts with catcalling but you didn’t like it, did you?”

Revenge of the ScarJo is the second of eleven singles that will be released through September 2024, with a full album release scheduled for October next year! The accompanying music video, directed by Catniss Evergreen, is an absolute trip and also stars the talented Pete Brock and Ted Pepper from 9 o’clock Nasty.

We have added Revenge of the ScarJo to our New Music Spotlight playlist as well as our brand new TRIPPY playlist, whilst we continue to stream The Margaret Hooligans‘ wider discography, including My Dog Ringo, and Our Museum of Failure.
