Periscopi Invertit take us on a transcendental and multicultural trip with new composition, Ball Pla de Lladurs

Enticing us with an astral flute melodies and intricate percussion elements, Periscopi Invertit open Ball Pla de Lladurs with intrigue and an enigmatic folk adjacent energy.

The opus expands with nothing short of instrumental mastery as Periscopi Invertit, founded by Mireia Carbonell, take us on a transcendental and evocative journey with their charismatic performances.

We appreciate the clarinet delivery, creating a cohesive tapestry of sound with delicate piano and rolling drums. The overarching energy of the piece feels cinematic and simultaneously whimsical.

We learn that the composition is designed to offer “a new musical perspective to the vibrant London multicultural music scene”, although Ball Pla de Lladurs is in fact an instrumental folk dance from Lladurs (Solsonès, Lleida, Catalonia) which is part of nowadays Catalan folk repertoire.

Mireia Carbonell has updated the melody by “reinterpreting it through different textures, starting with a folk arrangement, moving to a more groovy feel till the solo section, played on a more jazzy style, to end up with the melody again, allowing the melody to travel through different epoques/styles.”

We love the dynamic nature of what Periscopi Invertit create, and we have added Ball Pla de Lladurs to our New Music Spotlight playlist, whilst we continue to stream their previous singles and anticipate future releases from the rising band!
