We previously featured Tasty for his conscious and ethereal release, Another Day Alive, so when we heard that the star was back with Shots, we were curious to say the least!
Enticing with charming vocal ad libs and a vibrant melody, Tasty opens Shots with an out-of-this-world flow, and needless to say, we are in awe. The rising artist always impresses us with his tenacious energy, his word play, and self-realized nature.
Shots is a genre expansive experience including elements of dancehall, alternative pop, Afrobeat and funk. The choruses are dimensional, and the vocal design is quite literally off the chain.
We appreciate the presence of Deprice of Loop Instinct on the track, who adds value with his soundscape. Overall the track is super expansive, with a lot of intricacy going on, and we are here for it!
Speaking on the inception of the song, Tasty says, “I knew almost right away I wanted to write a song with a temporal triple-entendre on Shots. That being introduced as shots on a basketball court, then immediately into shots of alcohol and ultimately the main message I am trying to get across is to shoot your shot! There have been so many instances in which I wish I could just go back and stop overthinking and shoot my damn shot. Maybe this song will push somebody to just do it and stop overthinking everything!”
