Micah Sheveloff channels emotional authenticity with new single, Stand Me Up Again

Setting the tone with an exquisite vocal timbre, fused with textured risers and keys, Micah Sheveloff opens Stand Me Up Again with emotive lyrics as he sings, “Mama, it’s been a long day, what am I doing standing in the rain? Mama, I found God today, what am I doing praying in the rain?”

The opus expands with luscious harmonies and thought-provoking, introspective prose, as Micah Sheveloff takes us on a personal journey with his lived experience.

Speaking on the message of the track, Micah confesses, “I have been side by side and close to people who exist on the precipice of misery and disaster, and who despite the gristle, fight to extract sunshine from each and every day.” The visionary artist continues, “Stand Me Up Again is a plea from them to the great wide open.”

Stand Me Up Again comes with a cinematic, multi-medium music video to bring to life the concept of the song, along with lyrical cues. The composition demonstrates nothing short of instrumental mastery, and expanding on the creative process behind the track, Micah says, “Musically, the song was written on piano and recorded live-in-studio with my band before vocals and ornamentations were added.”

We learn that Micah Sheveloff is a rising arstist with a hyper-diverse musical background ranging from intense classical piano training, to studio tracking support roles with rock and metal acts. He is also the son of Boston University music professor Joel Sheveloff, and embraced a childhood mixed with ballet, choir practice and eventually TV pop acts like The Monkees and The Partridge Family.

He tell us how this lead to him discovering The Beatles, eventually developing solo material with these references in mind, although it is clear that Micah Sheveloff is creating a universe of his own.

We have added Stand Me Up Again to our New Music Spotlight playlist, whilst we continue to stream his wider discography including Dark Circles and High Notes, and anticipate future releases from Micah Sheveloff.
