We have been in awe at the consistency of Love Ghost‘s releases lately, so when we heard that they had just released Payback with SKOLD, we were curious to say the least.
Setting the tone with a dimensional guitar performance and cerebral textures, lead singer Finnegan opens Payback with a grunge-pop vocal and situational depth. The star sings, “You see it in my eyes, I want nothing more than Payback…”, before a fuzz-laden guitar expands the song, taking us on a subversive trip through the perspective of the band.
The opus evolves into a 90s-adjacent energy, demonstrating instrumental mastery and melodic nuance with emotional depth from Love Ghost. Naturally, Payback comes with an evocative music video, starring Finnegan as he takes us on a first person journey through his hyper-reality universe.
We learn that Payback is “a soul biting song about revenge and redemption”, and marks the first release from a forthcoming full length album between Love Ghost and SKOLD on Metropolis Records! The release aligned with a show last night at The Troubadour!
Love Ghost’s highlights thus far include playing the iconic Rockpalast festival in Germany, touring extensively, playing shows in London, Prague, Hamburg, Tokyo, Osaka, Quito, Dublin, Cork, San Francisco, Mexico City and Galway. They have been spotlighted in Rolling Stone, Lyrical Lemonade, Alternative Press, Huffington Post, American Songwriter, FLAUNT, V13, and their song Dirty Pixx even landed at number 24 on the iTunes rock charts!
