We previously featured Tom Tikka & The Missing Hubcaps for his perspective on healing the world with the evocative, Venetian Rubber Boots, so when we heard that the star had also released, Something New, we couldn’t wait to listen and feed back.
Setting the tone with an emotive piano performance, Tom sings the profound lyrics, “Love is just this thing that’s always been around, not something new, not something new, yet between the two of us it’s hard to find, something new, something new…”
We immediately connect with the message of the song, and the authentic depth that Tom shares with his voice and prose. There is no doubt that the artist has an introspective soul and this transpires in his delivery. His range is out of this world, and his uplifting and timeless nature really transpires with Something New.
Speaking on the message of the track, Tom confesses, “Relationships can be hard. They are easy and perfect only in Disney fantasies and fairy tales.”
The star continues, “Something New is about that utterly sad moment when you realize it’s time to leave the person you love behind. The song is a testament to the fact that love in itself is not enough. You also need compatibility.”
Something New comes with a stunning and cosmic music video filmed in Venice, Italy, featuring a moving performance from Tom, bringing to life his message in a cinematic and relatable manner.
We learn that Something New also peaked at #6 on the MPE Play Radio Charts on June 3 and became a bona fide hit single on June 16 when it entered the UK TOP 100 Rock Singles Chart at #4! Commenting on this success, Tom says, “One might say the song was a hit before it even came out!”
With global flair, Something New was written in Estonia in May of 2022, recorded in Finland a month later in June and Tom then shot the music video for it in Italy in August. It is no surprise that Tom Tikka has been featured on Huffington’s Thrive Global, Authority Magazine, Melody Maker Magazine, Ballroom Blitz, The Hollywood Digest, VENTS Magazine to name a few!
