Andrew Schneider returns with emotionally adept and thought-provoking new single, Hideaway

Immersing us with a decadent and evocative guitar soundscape, Andrew Schneider opens Hideaway with charismatic vocals and a situational narrative.

We connect with the astral ad libs and the Spanish-inspired percussion, which helps create a luscious tapestry of sound for the opus. The star delivers a dynamic performance, showcasing range and emotional depth. The poetic prowess exhibited is tangible, whilst the vintage nuance of the track allows us to tap into a sense of nostalgia.

We learn that Hideaway is the first release from Andrew Schneider‘s upcoming Value Set! EP, described as “an art-rock exploration of compromised values across careers, relationships, and family legacies.”

Speaking on the track, Andrew confesses, “The first draft of Hideaway was written at the height of COVID as a response to increasingly unhinged demands to re-open restaurants, gyms, and other services in the middle of a pandemic.”

The visionary artist continues with wisdom, “Beyond entitlement and narcissism, these attitudes appeared driven by a transactional world view: the mere ability to spend money would obligate full & enthusiastic service until the last dollar is gone. Hideaway is a soundtrack for all the vacation towns, resorts, and beach- side enclaves that have eagerly nurtured and catered to this world view, as well as residents’ paranoia that their station and wealth are fragile, and potentially even engineered to be slowly traded away.”

Andrew cites XTC, David Bowie, Joe Jackson, and Talking Heads as some of his influences, although there is no doubt that Andrew Schneider is creating a sound of his own with masterful solos and an ethereal edge.

We appreciate the valuable message that Andrew Schneider and the medium of allowing catharsis through his music. Naturally, Hideaway has been added to our New Music Spotlight playlist, whilst we continue to stream Andrew Schneider‘s wider discography including his album, The Nearest Parallel.
