Energy Whores share thought-provoking opus with reference to the recent loss of rights in the United States, Freedom Fadeaway

Setting the tone with intricate percussion, Energy Whores open Freedom Fadeaway with the subversive and situational lyrics, “Licking the hot sauce off my fingers at the book burning barbecue, the church lady said you don’t need that shit, you’ll go to hell and that’s the truth…”

The opus expands with melodic nuance to take us on a thought-provoking journey as Energy Whores share their perspective on reality with a genre-expansive soundscape zoning in on the recent loss of rights in the United States including Roe V. Wade and book censorship.

We immediately appreciate the depth and political nuance in the prose, and the highly unique sonic landscape that Energy Whores create with their sound.

The talented duo, featuring singer / songwriter Carrie Schoenfeld and guitarist Attilo Valenti, cite the classic protest music of Bob Dylan and the edgier work of Rage Against the Machine as some of their influences, although there is no doubt that what they are creating is unique to their own design.

The fusion of electro-indie, pop, disco, rock, and 80s synth, with a touch of country is tangible and the pair describe their music as, “designed to be meaningful while also pushing [the listener] to dance.”

Naturally, we have added Freedom Fadeaway to our New Music Spotlight playlist, whilst we continue to stream and explore the band’s wider discography including Den of Sins, which we also plan to review!
