The Lonely Together share wisdom on self-realized and empowering new single, Don’t Ask Don’t Get

We previously featured The Lonely Together when they delivered poetic nuance and intricacy with the emotive single, City Lights, so when we heard that the alternative dream rock band from Scotland had just released, Don’t Ask Don’t Get, we were curious to say the least!

Drawing us in with a luscious and dimensional guitar soundscape, with textured drums and astral riffs, Don’t Ask Don’t Get opens with self-realized prose as singer and mastermind behind The Lonely Together, Mike Baillie shares the metaphorical prose, “Heartbreak 101, show me the ropes, put my greatest regrets, under the microscope…”

We immediately connect with the philosophical nature of the opus, and the evocative and immersive soundscape, as the multi-instrumentalist takes us on a journey with exquisite performances on guitars, bass and keys, along with the talented Scott Kelman on drums.

The concept of the song is empowering and reflective, and we appreciate the wisdom shared with Don’t Ask Don’t Get. The narrative is designed to take us on “a race against time, to win the affections of a long-time friend/could-be lover”.

We learn that Don’t Ask Don’t Get is “anchored around the idea that you can never quite be sure what someone else is thinking or feeling – and that uncommunicated desire can result in lifelong sorrow.”

The authenticity that The Lonely Together share with Don’t Ask Don’t Get is tangible, and we have added the track to our New Music Spotlight playlist, whilst we anticipate their upcoming LP, Endless Sunset Oblivion, set for release in August!
