An astral frequency and glistening keys tease us before an elegant, yet curious piano melody draws us in deeper. The cosmic energy of Leonardo Barilaro‘s composition ZER0 expands as we experience ebbs and flows of the visionary mastermind’s performance and authentic emotion.
Leonardo Barilaro also known as The Space Pianist is an exceptional being on planet Earth who is an artist and aerospace engineer. We have been following his career for some time, and regularly enjoy his unique and dimensional pieces. ZER0 is no exception. With cerebral vibes, and layered instrumental mastery, we are in awe. Suddenly, we experience bold chords and psychedelic keys as the talented maestro shares the drama from his soul.
The composition takes on a meditative energy two-thirds of the way though, before we are drawn in by a textured wail and no respite from the keys, which holds a high octane energy, showcasing the classical abilities of the composer on a heightened level.
We learn that ZER0 is designed to be a “musical journey that leads the Astronaut, representing the Human’ soul, to discover himself reflected in the Universe, while the Universe is reflected into him in a waterfall of harmonies and cosmic wind of notes.”
The piece’s title, ZER0, is multi-layered in meaning, “representing the absence of all quantity considered as quantity and the making of Something out of Nothing, revolutionizing not only math but also human society.”
The opus was recorded at Pianos Maene in Brussels, official Steinway & Sons dealer, and has been mastered by sound engineer Paolo Bernardini of Medialica Studio. The star tells us that he is proud to be part of the pioneers pushing the boundaries of art in space, and his dream is to perform the first piano concert on Mars and stream it live to Earth.
