We recently featured Norway’s subversive DSP band (aka Down South Pepper band), and their thought-provoking single, Son of a Gun, so when we saw that they had just released, The Funny Part, we couldn’t wait to experience it and feed back!
With rolling drums and a glistening alt-Country meets Americana hybrid energy, Down South Pepper band open The Funny Part with charm, charisma and a twang, needless to say we are mesmerized.
They take us on a poetic journey which feels relatable, yet unique in concept. Speaking on the release of The Funny Part, the band confess, “The song is about how some people and some little things in life weigh up for the less good things we all experience in life.”
We love the stories included in the message of the song, and the intention that Down South Pepper band creates with. We learn that The Funny Part features Rune Nyby on vocals and acoustic guitar, Per Øyvind Mathisen on guitars and bass, Eivind Kløverød on drums, and Lars Rune Rebbestad on steel guitar and piano.
They deliver a cohesive tapestry of sound and an authenticity in their vibe which is tangible. This also really comes though in their scenic music video for the opus!
We have added The Funny Part to our New Music Spotlight playlist, whilst we continue to stream Down South Pepper band‘s wider discography including Son of a Gun, and Driving Home To You!
