Napier Days returns with charming and curious new single, Last Time

We recently had the immense honour of featuring Napier Days for his emotive and immersive debut single, The Sea, so when we heard that the rising star had also released, Last Time, we couldn’t wait to experience it and feed back!

Drawing us with intricate percussion, psychedelic nuance, breathwork and a luscious and dimensional guitar soundscape, Napier Days opens Last Time with a sense of timeless rock energy, needless to say, we are in awe.

We connect with the artist’s emotive prose as he charmingly sings, “Here we stand together, talking feels so vain, every time we get closer, I’m lost for words again, I don’t wanna go, you just want the show….”

With reference to the message of Last Time, Napier Days tells us, “It’s about the curiosity and excitement of getting to know each other in a relationship. This is certainly accompanied by uncertainty on both sides. But sometimes you just have to be able to turn off your head. Be yourself and have fun is probably the appropriate motto, which is thematized in the chorus.”

We imagine that fans of The Smiths and The Cure would be able to connect with Last Time, but it is also clear that Napier Days is creating a unique sonic essence, unto himself.

Speaking on his sound, he confesses, “My music goes in the pop direction, but also has influences from rock and indie genres. I try to incorporate elements that I myself appreciate when listening to music, such as catchy hooks and lyrics that you can identify with as a listener. The musical influences for this song could be a mixture of pop, like Harry Styles and Dayglow with elements and influences of bands like Feeder or Travis.”

We love what Napier Days is creating, and have added Last Time to our New Music Spotlight playlist, whilst we continue to stream his growing discography, and anticipate future releases from the visionary artist!
