Test Patterns takes us on an introspective trip with Don’t Ask Me, the opening track of his album, Modern Font

Setting the tone with the IRL sounds of reality, followed my a luscious and melodic orchestral moment, Test Patterns opens Don’t Ask Me with an intricate and pulsating beat. Needless to say, we are intrigued.

The opus expands with a conscious and expansive flow as the visionary artist, also known as Gage Bickerstaff, takes us on a journey through his spirit and soul. We appreciate the thought-provoking prose, fused with the astral choruses, and the ebbs and flows of the track, generating a dimensional energy that we are authentically drawn to.

We learn that Test Patterns is a music school drop out, and “an eclectic composer who [has] a love-hate relationship with pop music, reaching for pop motives and ideas but with a modern compositional mind, creating a tension seldom seen in contemporary mainstream music.” This uniqueness is what sets Gage apart from his peers and is essentially his super power as an artist. He considers himself “an outsider shining a light on something past its golden age.”

We have added Don’t Ask Me to our New Music Spotlight playlist, whilst we continue to stream Test Patterns‘ full album, Modern Font.
