Snakedoctors team up with Bush drummer Nik Hughes, share emotional optimism, and tease upcoming album, Waiting, with new single, Brighter

By now you will have noticed that we are huge fans of Snakedoctors, so when we saw that they had just released Brighter, with Bush‘s drummer Nik Hughes, we were excited to listen and feed back!

Textured drums and an immersive cymbal open the song with layered enigmatic melodies and a luscious bassline, as Snakedoctors share evocative and existential prose with their signature, grunge timbre. Needless to say, we are immediately in awe.

The opus expands with thought-provoking depth and the subversive energy that we have learnt to love from Snakedoctors. They sing about wanting a “brighter day”, and the optimism we feel in the heart of the band is tangible. The band confess, “Brighter is a song about how brighter days are going to arrive finally after dark times.”

We love Nik Hughes‘ drums performance, and the immersive tapestry of sound that he creates with the band. Naturally, Brighter is another single promoting new upcoming Snakedoctors‘ album Waiting, which we cannot wait to hear in full!

The track was mixed by Dawid Gorgolewski at Osso Studio and mastered by Stephen Marcussen. The incredible visual for the song features an epic performance from the band, showcasing their live set up, as well as the enchanting actress, Aleksandra Gąsiorowska!

The band’s previous albums have featured a lot of great artists and producers including – Joe Gibb (Depeche Mode, The Cure, The Kinks, Jane’s Addiction, Stone Roses and The Mission), Kevin Paul (also Depeche Mode and the Kinks and also with Yazoo, Erasure and David Bowie), Chris Bolster from Abbey Road Studios, Andy “Hippy” Baldwin from Metropolis Studios, Corey Coffman from band Gleemer, Corey Alley (Hobbit Hole Records), Matt Gerhard working with band Spoon, Dawid Gorgolewski of Osso Studio (Poland), Tom Queyja (The Lip Studio) – a long time friend of Snakedoctors’s leader who had produced songs for his former US band’s (the Implants formerly known as the Shriners) album.

We love what Snakedoctors are creating, and have added Brighter to our New Music Spotlight playlist, whilst we continue to stream their wider discography and anticipate the release of Waiting!
