SEGANA take us on a hedonistic trip with evocative new single, Fever Dreams

Enticing us with the whirring of a car engine and a cerebral add lib, SEGANA open Fever Dreams with an immersive, dark wave synthscape and needless to say, we are mesmerized. The opus expands with drama, intrigue and atmospheric vocals as SEGANA, aka Blair Djuna (who we have written about before!) and JMap, share the situational, yet metaphorical prose, “Can’t turn around, cos I heard that they’re in down, burning every red light down…”

We are immediately drawn in by the vocal timbre, charismatic delivery, and the high octane vibes that the stars are creating. It is no surprise that the synth pop duo from Sydney are already captivating the world with their energy.

We learn that the group’s moniker SEGANA represents “great vibes, catchy hooks and a hard hitting sound”, and that Blair and JMap seek to “ensure to make their music as engaging as possible to all listeners.”

They are definitely succeeding, and the creative pair tell us that SEGANA is “more than just a band”, but are “passionate advocates for worthwhile causes and have used their platform to raise awareness about a range of contemporary issues”, resulting in a cult-like following!

As for the message of the track, SEGANA confess, “The lyrics introduce the idea of being unable to escape from a chaotic and dangerous situation, possibly because of the presence of monsters or dangerous individuals. The reference to burning every red light down adds to the reckless and hedonistic theme of the song, while the mention of the uncertainty of whether you’re in heaven or hell and leaving a ‘horror house’ suggests a sense of confusion or turmoil.”

We love the references, and the out of the world visual brand of storytelling that the pair exude, as well as the exceptional clarity of the mix, demonstrating the incredible sonic offering of the group.

Naturally, we have added Fever Dreams to our New Music Spotlight playlist, whilst we continue to stream SEGANA‘s wider discography including Forget You, Feel and Ivy!
