Ben Kelly shares his soul on new single, and EP, Senses

Setting the tone with an immersive guitar energy and textured drums, Ben Kelly opens Senses with intrigue and dimensionality. We immediately connect with the luscious vocal add libs, before the star sings, “I’ve come to my senses, I wasn’t thinking dear, you’re the one who matters, I need to have you near…”

The authenticity that Ben Kelly shares with his prose is tangible, it is evident that the rising artist is writing from his soul, and that comes through in the piece. The arrangement of the track suits the message perfectly, and we appreciate the lo-fi elements.

Speaking on the release of Senses, the star says, “My newest song is a laid back chill love song that I think a lot of people will vibe to!” We learn that the song is the opening track from Ben’s EP of the same title, which we have also been exploring.

Speaking on the meaning of the track, Ben confesses, “The song is about being in a rocky relationship but realizing how important the other person is to you and recommitting to it.”

The artist from Washington DC cites Frank Ocean, Tyler, the Creator, Daniel Caesar, Marvin Gaye, SZA, and Michael Jackson as some of his influences, which we can feel come through in the record, although it is clear that Ben Kelly is creating a sound of his own.

We love what Ben Kelly is creating, and have added Senses to our New Music Spotlight playlist, whilst we continue to stream his EP, Senses in full!
