Keelah Tay shares emotive and philosophical new single, Time Zones

Setting the tone with textured drums and an elegant guitar melody, Keelah Tay opens Time Zones with intrigue and an emotive energy as she sings, “Tried so hard to be the exception, now it’s all just dead intentions, called you twice with an angry message, now its all just missed connections…”

Immediately we are drawn into the story that Keelah Tay shares with her authenticity and depth of prose. The rising artist from Los Angeles confesses, “Time Zones is about challenges of long distance relationships.
Despite our best efforts to maintain the same connection as before it’s probably better for all involved to let go and evolve with the change of seasons.”

We deeply connect with the relatable message that the star shares, and we are mesmerized by her soundscape and unique vocal timbre. The harmonies add a sense of dimensionality to the piece, and we are in awe of the sonic switch up for the finale of the track, which invites us to hit the repeat button!

Elaborating on what influenced Time Zones, Keelah Tay says, “I literally grew up in multiple states across the us so moving becoming the norm for me, and along with that came saying goodbye to close friends and sometimes family. With every goodbye I made, I knew there was a chance those relationships would never be the same. I’m currently in a more stationary living situation but now it’s friends and family saying goodbye to me but the out come remains the same were living at the same time but our realities are very different.”

The rising artist cites and extensive list of influences including Brandy, Rihanna , System Of A Down, Grace Jones, Scars on Broadway, SZA, Mariah Carey, Depeche Mode, The Chicks, Avril Lavigne, Denzel Curry, Halsey, Shania Twain, BbyMutha, Nina Simone, Whitney Houston, Elton John, Evanescence, Fefe Dobson, TLC, Summer Walker, Bill Withers, The 5th Dimension, Lady Tron, Alicia Keys, and Linda Ronstadt, which we can feel come through in her artistry, although there is no doubt that Keelah Tay is creating a universe of her own.

We appreciate the philosophical nature of Keelah Tay‘s songwriting, and have added Time Zones to our New Music Spotlight playlist, whilst we continue to stream her wider discography including Atomic Bliss, and Between the Lust.
