Carson Ferris shares profound and self-realized new single, Speed Limit

We recently featured the talented Carson Ferris as he took us on an introspective trip with evocative single, Drive Alone, so when we heard that he had released the aptly titled follow up, Speed Limit, we couldn’t wait to experience it!

Establishing the mood with an immersive electric guitar and vocal textures accompanied by a pulsating beat, Carson Ferris opens Speed Limit with introspective lyricism as he sings, “Sometimes when things get hard, get hard, and I feel that maybe I’ve gone too far, and I’m left in the dark, I tell myself it’s not enough, I keep pushing even though it’s tough, but I’m left in the dust…”

Naturally, we love the poetic prowess that Carson shares, and his self-realized energy as he ponders whether he is indeed going too fast. We learn that Carson wrote the song about “what it takes to chase his dreams as a musician.” The young artist tells us that “the song is about looking at your life and trying to figure out how much is too much to give up for your dreams, managing stress and finding balance. The soaring high notes at the end of the chorus signify that all of the sacrifices can be worth it as you work towards your goals.”

Once again, the opus was co-written and produced by the talented Mykyl, and features great wisdom and depth, expanding on the journey of the star. The harmonies are out of this world, adding a sense of dimensionality to the composition as we deeper connect with the relatable message of the song.

Speed Limit was recorded in Provo’s June Audio recording studio. Engineering the track was Maren Gayle with Jen Marco doing vocal production. The song was mixed by Adam Turley and mastered by Eric Disero. The sound has been compared to “a cross between OneRepublic, Ed Sheeran and the Jonas Brothers”, but it is clear that Carson Ferris is creating a universe of his very own.

We have added Speed Limit to our New Music Spotlight playlist, whilst we continue to stream Carson Ferris‘s wider discography including both versions of Drive Alone!
