Setting the tone with tripping high hats and a panning synth with nuanced melodic detailing, Marc Rangel opens Song Cry with cerebral vocals, situational yet metaphorical lyrics, and unique concept.
We are immediately drawn in by the artist’s intricate flow and poetic prowess. The whirring bassline evokes a sense of dimensionality, and we are mesmerized by Los Angeles-based artist’s charismatic delivery.
Speaking on the inspiration behind the prose, Marc Rangel confesses, “I wrote this song about a situationship I was in where I found out he had an entire secret long term relationship behind my back. It’s angry and moody, but energetic.”
We appreciate the authenticity that Marc Rangel conveys, and the cohesive tapestry of genre expansive sound that the artist utilises to bring to life their experience.
With reference to the construction of the track created with producer Brandon Zano, Marc says, “This song was built pretty fast. I wrote the song by myself in my room in about twenty minutes or so. The words just poured out of me. So when I brought in in to my producer, we basically finished the bones of the production in one session. Then we just focused on mixing and adding little things here and there.”
Song Cry has been added to our New Music Spotlight playlist, whilst we continue to stream the wider discography of Marc Rangel, including why don’t you love me anymore?, and twenty questions.
