The Marsh Family come through with an intricate and inspiring new single, My Storybook

Last year, we had the honour of featuring The Marsh Family, as they delivered activism as art with the vibrant and thought-provoking single, Biological Clock, so when we heard that they had just released My Storybook, we couldn’t wait to listen and feed back!

With a vibrant and expressive soundscape featuring a signature ukelele, The Marsh Family share the evocative, relatable and situational prose, “When I’m old and grey, you might hear me say, there’s some things I don’t recall, I’ve been bruised and scared and remembering’s hard…”

The commentary on ageism is a running theme with the family band, and My Storybook taps into this energy further to help educate the masses into choosing love and compassion. We are in awe of the way that the family harmonise with their vocals, which feels highly authentic considering their genes, and that is just one of the reasons that we love experiencing their cohesive tapestry of sound.

Speaking on the message of the release, The Marsh Family tell us, “My Storybook is a piece of musical sunshine that celebrates companionship, shared memories, and the simple things that keep us all grounded.”

They confess, “This song is dedicated to our Newcastle grandparents, as it was premiered at their golden wedding anniversary. It came from conversations about getting older, memories, about what’s important in life, about what we look back on, and how we try to remember and support one another – even when things are tough. But we aimed for a folky summer vibe, and trying to capture a bit of the sunshine that we’ve shared in past holidays.”

We love the message and the narrative based story telling that the band shares, full of poetic prowess and intentional depth. The Marsh Family brought a breath of fresh air to lockdowns by sharing their distinctive parody songs with a unique mix of humour, heart, and hope, which resulted in viral fame including TV appearances!

Naturally, My Storybook comes with a charming music video which sees the family in their element, delivering quirky performances filmed at Graveney Park, with inserts from some of their favourite holidays and places! My Storybook has been added to our New Music Spotlight playlist, whilst we continue to stream the wider discography of The Marsh Family, and await upcoming wholesome releases!
