Loucas Bretz delivers intricacy and vibrancy with new composition, Hotel Melody

Setting the tone with elegant guitar and an immersive frequency, before we experience 80s adjacent drums and a moving guitar solo, Loucas Bretz opens Hotel Melody with intrigue, dimensionality and charm.

The opus expands with performance intricacy to draw us in further, with enigmatic lead guitar and a whirring bassline, before the piano becomes the primary protagonist of the piece, eventually rejoined by the glistening guitar soundscape that we are already deeply connecting to.

Speaking on the release of the track, Loucas Bretz tells us, “Hotel Melody is a lounge-esque, guitar-filled instrumental rock piece, featuring obscure melodies, groovy bass lines and drums, along with synths, piano, and strings for a fuller more orchestral sound.”

He tells us that the piece was “written during the cold winter months to reflect the moodiness, and heavily inspired by dark sounds from Arctic Monkey’s Tranquility Hotel Base & Casino, and Serge Gainsbourg’s Melody Nelson.” We can feel the artist’s references coming through, although there is no doubt that the rising star is creating a universe of his own.

We appreciate the harder rock edge that comes to life for the finale of the track, a high octane energy that has us reaching for the repeat button. The outro is elegant with a looped sentiment, making for the perfect track to replay over and over again.

Loucas Bretz is an artist-producer from Luxembourg who “loves to create music individually and collaboratively as much as he loves producing for himself and for others.” His instrumental music is designed to feature “expressive guitar melodies, groovy bass lines, discrete synthetic sounds, and energetic drum beats.” We learn that the artist produces his own work in a “minimalist and modernist manner prioritising the quality of the song over the production, all while embracing the imperfections.”

We love the authenticity and vigour that Loucas Bretz creates with, and have added Hotel Melody to our New Music Spotlight playlist, whilst we continue to stream his wider discography including Lower Queensland, Autumn Leaves, and Golden Skies.
