We have recently found a deep rooted fascination with Roxercat, and covered their empowering and intricate debut single, Pearls, as well as their psychedelic and self-realized sophomore single, I Changed Today, so we were happy to hear that their sonic and visual journey was set to continue with the release of Crime!
Establishing the mood with a masterful guitar riff and slide, which takes us into an incredible electric guitar solo, Crime opens with the charming vocals of singer, Price Jones, as she shares metaphorical prose, and conscious words of wisdom.
Crime is taken from Roxercat‘s new six-song EP Pearls, and comes with a super psychedelic visual which is reminiscent of a DMT trip, albeit more high octane. We adore the colours, and how Price delivers a badass performance as she sings, “You give it all away…”
The band describes Crime as “a rocking plea for people to stop giving away their power to systems designed to distract, pacify, and influence”. They confess, “It’s a warning to take back control of our minds, beliefs, and thoughts. It’s too easy in a fast-paced, digital world to blindly believe what you may read or hear without question and allow others to dictate who you should love or hate.”
We deeply appreciate what Stan, Bill, and Price create with Roxercat, their authentic intention is tangible, and the art they are delivering is thought-provoking and profound.
Crime has been added to our New Music Spotlight playlist, whilst we continue to stream Roxercat‘s EP in full, and anticipate future releases from the visionary trio.
