We recently featured Roxercat for their empowering and intricate debut, Pearls, so when we heard that they had just released the brand new single, I Changed Today, we couldn’t wait to experience it!
Establishing the mood with a wild guitar and intricate drums with psychedelic, melodic nuances that we have come to love from the band, Roxercat open I Changed Today with the powerful, situational lyrics, “I changed today when you weren’t looking, I realised and it’s got me all shook up…“
The opus expands into a self-realization anthem with luscious harmonies and background vocals that deliver a transcendental experience as singer Price Jones takes us on a journey through her expansive spirit and mind.
The instrumental solos including synth and bass are simply incredible, giving us an astral experience as the progressive rock band showcase their incredible skillet. Roxercat are based in Nashville, Tennessee, led by singer Price Jones, guitarist Stan Lassiter, and bassist Bill Francis.
We learn that the song is inspired by “life’s unexpected twists and turns.” Price Jones confesses, “It’s about waking up one day and feeling that everything around you somehow looks and feels different. This unintentional shift into a different perspective brings an awareness that life as you’ve known it will never be the same again.”
The visionary artist continues, “I’ve always felt like life happens in chapters. Sometimes I sense that a major paradigm shift is about to occur. I have no idea what it is that’s about to happen or whether it’s going to be good or bad; I just feel an unexpected and profound sense of a change out of the blue.”
