Dax chooses love, light and the power of God with evocative new single, The Devil’s Calling

We have been forever in awe of the creative output of Dax. A star in the entertainment industry who never ceases to amaze us with his resilience, passion, intricate discography, and out of this world visuals.

Naturally, when we learnt that Dax had just released The Devil’s Calling, a theme that he is not afraid to touch on within his artistic narrative, we couldn’t wait to experience it!

Opening with rippling keys and a bible quote, Dax sets the tone of the opus with intrigue, dimensionality, and the evocative prose, “Straight from the depths of hell, The Devil’s Calling he might win a couple of battles, but I promise he will not prevail…”

We admire Dax‘s eloquent flow, and the manner in which he communicates his message, full of poetic prowess and symbolism, and The Devil’s Calling is no exception! A flawless execution, and tangible, conscious authenticity that sets Dax apart from his peers.

Naturally, the song comes with an epic video which opens with our protagonist laying up against a phone booth, before performing in literally the depths of hell as he is covered in flames. Speaking on the message of the release, Dax says, “The Devil’s Calling is a song that was created after a supernatural experience I had during sleep paralysis in December 2020. I created this song the day after the event.”

The visual sees Dax levitate from his bed as the devil is calling him, before he finds God and comes back to himself. He raps that he will “never fold”, and we love the finale in the visual that sees another stand off with the devil. The lyricism is powerful and we appreciate the line “This is energy of Malcolm X, Rosa Parks, Martin Luther King Jr, Harri(et) Tub(man), and Emit Till”, as he references those who have inspired Dax to choose love and activism within his artistry.

We have added The Devil’s Calling to our New Music Spotlight playlist, whilst we continue to stream Dax‘s wider discography and watch his videography in awe!
