Setting the tone with a nuanced and rising guitar soundscape, SRVR open You Are with atmospheric vocals, emotive prose and luscious harmonies. We are immediately drawn in by the authenticity of the lyricism and the cohesive tapestry of sound that SRVR create.
We learn that SRVR is a new collaboration between South London producers and songwriters Sidney Rivers and Vincent Rouge. With reference to the meaning of the release, Vincent “prefers to leave the meaning of his lyrics open to interpretation”, but what is certain is that he channels his emotions authentically and shares introspective, poetic prowess with his words.
Sidney performs bass and percussion, whilst Vincent delivers guitars, vocals and piano! The guitar riffs and solos are out of this world, and we are hypnotized by the soundscape that SRVR create.
You Are is their second single, and was recorded and mixed at 123 Studios, London with Rob Wilks (Foals, Lianne La Havas, Florence and the Machine). The duo’s debut album is due for release later this year!
The creators cite David Bowie, Arcade Fire, Massive Attack, and Eno as some of their sonic influences, which we can feel come through with You Are, although it is clear that SRVR are creating a universe of their own.
