David Baron and Renée Hikari launch innovative new project, SOLARI, and release transcendental single, Everyone Is Your Friend

Setting the tone with a dynamic synthscape, pulsating drums and intricate melodic detailing, SOLARI open Everyone Is Your Friend with intrigue and a sense of dimensionality. The opus expands with luscious, atmospheric vocals as SOLARI share the name of the track as the opening prose, subsequently taking us on a cerebral and introspective journey. We love the high synths that lend themselves to an astral energy, evoking a higher range of emotion from the listener.

The lyrics, “Everyone is your friend, you’re lonely but you’re not alone, ghosts are everywhere, barely visible in air…”, are particularly poignant and relatable as we are invited to dive deeper into the emotional connections that we hold.

We learn that SOLARI is a New York synth pop duo consisting of David Baron (whose exquisite work we have regularly featured) and Renée Hikari. The song is written and produced by the creative duo, and explores “the concept of being lonely in a big city.”

The creators tell us, “The song speaks to the epidemic of loneliness that exists in big cities. Many feel extreme loneliness and isolation living in cities even though they are surrounded by many people. Our SOLARI character feels trapped and lonely. Her journey is to figure out how to escape. The Japanese lyrics are SOLARI questioning if she’s capable of loving anyone, letting someone deep inside her heart.”

Everyone Is Your Friend comes with a dreamy artificial intelligence designed music video which brings to life the transcendental nature of the track perfectly. We also learn that the song is based on “a driving eight-note synth bass and insistent drums”, and that the electric guitar is played by Kevin Kadish, which is designed to punctuate the rhythm. They confess, “The idea was to make the song feel like being on the train in a big city. Everything is moving around you. And nothing ever stops. You are surrounded by strangers.”

David and Renée tell us that they were inspired by the Drive soundtrack, the Tron soundtrack, Daft Punk, and Depeche Mode, which we feel cohesively come to fruition within their synth-based tapestry of sound, which features an Emu Modular, the Arp Quadra, a Moog 3p Modular, and a Prophet 5!

We love the innovation and authenticity that SOLARI share with their universe, and have added Everyone Is Your Friend to our New Music Spotlight playlist, whilst we anticipate future releases from the visionary project!
