Exploring Mark Winters’ wider discography with a spotlight on his transcendental single, Copper Queen

We had the pleasure of featuring Mark Winters for the releases of It Moves in You, and his uplifting anthem, Positive People, so following a dig through the star’s discography, we had to shine a spotlight on his song, Copper Queen.

Opening with the luscious acoustic rock soundscape that we have come to love and admire from Mark Winters, he opens Copper Queen with charming lyricism as he zones in on his muse with the prose, “I’m just dreaming about her hair, cutting through the breeze, waves splashing everywhere, rays of gold caught me by surprise, I’m getting high watching her drift on by…”

We can always count on Mark Winters to deliver an immersive brand of storytelling, and Copper Queen is no exception. Mark takes us on an intimate journey as he paints a vivid picture, and in turn allows us to live his transcendental and romantic experience vicariously through the artist.

Speaking on the release, the Texan artist simply says, “Sunshine, wind surfing, curling waves… moments in my life where a new experience took me in an unexpected direction. Capturing the moment when a beautiful girl, a gentle little smile and unexpected love, are found in the moments of an ordinary day.”

The opus features an incredible guitar solo that is mesmerizing, and the atmospheric nature of the soundscape really does justice to Mark Winters‘ exquisite vocal timbre.

Mark cites John Mayer, Tom Petty, and Jason Mraz as his greatest influences, but there is no doubt that what Mark Winters is creating is unique to his own journey and experience. His music starts from a place of poetry and creative inspiration, and we learn that he uses his “rocket- scientist brain” to find structures that help him explore that initial burst of inspiration and feeling – like writing haikus, which is his favourite.

We have added Copper Queen to our New Music Spotlight playlist, whilst we continue to stream Mark Winters‘ wider discography including Life of 3, and Boundary Layer.
