We recently featured Truckerbomb as they took us on an emotional journey with their single, Break My Heart, so when we heard that last year they had also released Next Last Drink, we couldn’t wait to experience it!
Drawing us in with a bold and cohesive, classic rock energy, Truckerbomb open Next Last Drink with intricacy, dimensionality and power pop vocal harmonies.
“Open for business is a sign I like to see…” sings artist Troy Richardson with a grunge vocal, as we are immersed in his universe and the reality of his situation as he begs the bartender for the Next Last Drink. We love the concept of the song, which has a super relatable vibe to anyone who has been in Truckerbomb‘s situation, needing some liquid courage.
The opus takes a self-described “dash of dive-bar grunge and mixes it with the up-tempo swing of honky-tonk”, which lends itself to a unique soundscape which we cannot get enough of. The band tell us with passion, “Los Angeles isn’t known as a hotbed for Americana, but that doesn’t stop TruckerBomb from doing their thing.”
Next Last Drink features mind-blowing guitar solos which really dimensionalize the composition, and we appreciate the middle eight which is laced with emotion and authenticity before an epic reprise.
We can imagine that fans of Nirvana and Bush would be able to connect with Next Last Drink, although there is no doubt that with their unique blend of genres, Truckerbomb are indeed creating a universe of their own.
The group’s lineup includes Ursula Lari, originally from Peru on rhythm guitar and additional vocals, along with drummer Alrick Bills known for many years of work in the music industry and Salty Rose, who is an LA native and has brought his rock, blues, and country styles to many bands.
We love what TruckerBomb are creating, and have added Next Last Drink to our New Music Spotlight playlist, whilst we continue to stream the band’s wider discography including Break My Heart, and Everything.
