2022 was an incredibly creative year for rising star Genevieve Sovereign, as well as her collaborator Ben Tenison, so when we learnt that the pair had released a song at the tail end of the year, we couldn’t wait to experience it!
Life Soaked Reveal opens with a bright and dynamic synthscape, with intricate, textured percussion detailing as Genevieve Sovereign delivers immersive prose with her signature atmospheric vocals.
We can always count on Genevieve Sovereign to deliver poetic nuance and depth with her words, and Life Soaked Reveal is no exception. We learn that the Christmas Day release coincides with the birthday of one of Sovereign’s late friends, Melbourne-based composer Luke Paulding. Life Soaked Reveal is being released in memory of Luke, someone that Genevieve considers “instrumental in setting her along the path of becoming an independent artist”.
We love the ethereal nature of the opus and the transcendental journey that Genevieve Sovereign takes us on with this trip through her universe. Ben Tenison‘s vocals add dynamic range to the composition and we love the cohesive message that the duo share.
The creators tell us that the track is designed to invite us on “an epic journey that plumbs great depths for treasures lost”. They also describe the piece as “a sonic odyssey of mystery and profound meaning.”
