Gary Dranow shares evocative commentary on dysfunctional relationships with intricate single, Twisted Minds

We recently featured Gary Dranow for his prophetic single, Destiny Road, so when we heard that he had also released Twisted Minds, we couldn’t wait to experience it! Drawing us in with a refined and epic electric guitar performance, Twisted Minds opens with the dimensionality and instrumental expertise that we have come to expect from Gary Dranow.

With his signature vocal timbre, the visionary artist from Park City delivers the evocative prose, “Infatuation, it takes the blame, what does it matter when you’re living in lies, you lose the game, I should’ve known better, burning sorrow, it fuels the rage, but now I’m in tears, sentimental journey’s over, you tore up that page, re-write the ending…”

What we love about Gary Dranow is not only his ability to paint a picture with his poetic lyricism, but the philosophical nature of his words that he brings to life with ease and eloquence as his shares his stories.

Speaking on the release of Twisted Minds, Gary confesses, “This is about a toxic relationship and finally at the breaking point the partner calls it quits.” We learn that the composition features solos by both Gary Dranow and Chris Zoupa (Teramaze, Melbourne, Australia). The piece is arranged by Dranow, and he tells us that it doesn’t follow a typical rock blues progression. Bass is played by Jerry Manfredi, with keyboards by Tommy Mars (Frank Zappa Band) and Jethro Defries (Sly and the Family Stone).

The cohesive nature of the sonic landscape is tangible, and we appreciate the depth of the narrative and exquisite guitar performances. Gary cites Ozzy Osborne and The Rolling Stones as sonic references, although there is no doubt that what Gary Dranow is creating is unique to his own path – socially, and lyrically.

Dysfunctional relationships, something that we understand Gary has had plenty of experience with in his time trying to find lasting love, is a wider theme on the record which we cannot wait to experience in more depth!

Meanwhile, we have added Twisted Minds to our New Music Spotlight playlist, whilst we continue to stream Gary Dranow‘s wider discography and anticipate future releases from the star.
